BeSafe Newborn Haven

Ana Anastasijevic Vuletić, Finland

Honestly there are not too many options on market of Newborn soft buckle carriers I would reccomend as babywearing consultant, but the new BeSafe is now one of that chosen few.

The reason behind my personal recommendations are found in physiology of a newborn. My few based criteria are support, softness and respect of curved spine, knee to knee and width adjustastments of panel – as we don’t want to forcibly spread newborn legs.

As thar has been said, I have tried new BeSafe Newborn Haven carrier, and I think it really marks several main options on my list.

I think most parents/caregivers who wore small babies will be grateful for straitforward instruction and easines of usage of this carrier. The adjustments of the panel are made with simplicity of buttons. On the other hand, we have buckles that I am obsseded with, and it is also great for mobility issues and one hand buckling. But what I find also impressive is that buckle can be slightly rotated and this is particularly useful for breastfeeding mums and big breasts that you can adjust angle of straps so it will not put additional pressure on breast and causing damage or discomfort.

The material is soft with a bit of stretch and resembles foam, so it will respect the natural position of the newborn. Considering that we will not go out with newborns on the hottest part of the day, I don’t think that slightly thicker material would be an issue during summer. The inner part of the carrier is made with Tencel, which has a bit of cooling effects, and it is also good options for sensitive skin and alergies.

Edit: After testing with a baby on a really hot summer day in Serbia, I was closely monitoring if baby is sweating, and on my surprise, that was not the case. So outside material can be a bit misleading of expectations that it will not handle summer days. But it will.

The main feature that I respect in this design is the natural positioning of hands in this carrier. They will guide you to instinctively position baby hands in a natural position in front of the baby, close to her face.

The design is constructed to not have openings on the side of a carrier but is really close to the body of a person who wears and also provides a nice hug to baby equaly across the body. This particularly is something I personally like as it is a really important feature for newborns and minimalize the risk of bad positioning and provides equal pressure mimicking the womb comfort and wrap spreadnes.

Also, I have tested buckle position to see the possibility of making this carrier overtight and putting baby in starfish position, which is something we often see, and I was surprised and excited that is a minimal risk that someone will go overboard with this type of carrier. This, as a consultant, makes me happy. The position on buckles, the type of buckles, and a bit of stretch minimised the risk of overtightening.

The straps are worn as cross, and you are able to wear them as narrow or spread them across the shoulders. I personally prefer them as narrow and find them comfortable. There is soft foam for enough padding and comfort.

The waist belt is really soft and nice tight fit on a body without too much pressure on body which I find it is also good option for postapurm mums.

The carrier is tested from 3.2kg up to 11kg and predicted to be used throught first year of babies’ lives. Here, I am not optimistic about it. I am not that convinced it will provide enough support for the whole first year, but it also depends on the baby growth. It will for sure not cover the whole babywearing period, and it will require an investment in a new carrier. It is a good option to start with and gain confidence in babywearing before doing a switch to a larger carrier. It is a thin line, and as it is marketed as a newborn carrier, I would say it is as described – mark everything as a good option for newborns and small babies. When choosing a buckle carrier, there is always a dilema – if we choose a newborn carrier we can start wearing from the first day, if we opt for baby size carrier it would be recommended to wait at least month and half to get more weight to poprerly fill out the carrier and not forcibly spread baby legs in wider position. It depends on personal possibility to invest also, but I would check lists of not needed by experience baby products and avoid spending and lose money and put it in good use with choosing a proper age carrier. The thing is, when you choose carrier for stages of development of your baby, it is usually a better option as that carrier doesn’t have to comprise on design to meet large scalability.

Also, I really like that this model is marketed as front carry only as all newborns should be, close to our heart and eye.

This is the winter carrier for your newborn. I loved it.
I tested it only with my 50cm and 3kg demo doll but it fit perfectly in it. Waist belt is firm enough and stays in place. Shoulder straps are not padded at all so I had an impression I wrapped a woven wrap around baby and me and that is great. I’m petite so not many carriers suit me but this one I’m in love with. I also like the adjustments on panel (width and height) and that shoulder straps are crossed. The absolute favorite thing about this carrier is that a baby fits perfectly in it. The shape of a panel is perfect so when a baby sits it creates a perfect M position so you don’t have to bother with pelvic tilt. The material is nice and soft, but pretty thick so I think it would be perfect for autumn and winter. Design is beautiful.
I know that when I have another baby I’ll definitely try this beauty again.

Thanks to Lenine putujuce nosiljke (Lena’s traveling carriers) we tried this Ergobaby carrier, very comfortable and easy to fit. Maybe not for the summer because of the material. Design is very nice, elegant, I love it. My baby is 1 month old and have 4500gr, it fits ok for her. Thank you all ☺️

This is so far my favorite carrier suitable for newborns – Besafe Haven. The carrier is soft structured yet shaped in a way that you cannot miss to put your baby in a recommended natural M position in it. The buckles are easy to close/open using one hand, but they are safe and hold firmly, the straps are very comfortable, and the belt is nicely firm but well padded so you shouldn’t worry about your beautiful postpartum body to feel any discomfort.
The baby boy is 1.5 months old and around 5kg at the time of testing.
Thank you, Lena’s traveling carriers

We tried this carrier as part of the Welcome baby package. It is very soft, easy to adjust, the baby quickly takes the position in which he falls asleep like a lamb. What personally did not suit me during long walks, due to the problem I have with lordosis, is that the shoulder straps cross and after a while they are pulled towards the neck. Thank you LPN for the opportunity to try the carrier! #lenastravelingcarriers

Thanks to lena’s traveling carriers we had the opportunity to test this carrier as a part of a welcome baby package. Tester was my little girl, 3,5 months old, about 6,7kg. First thing that caught my eyes was how elegant it is, it is perfect to carry it on some venue like wedding or baptism. It is adjustable in height and width, with buttons. My baby had the excellent M position in it, and it was very comfortable for both of us. Shoulder straps can be spread over the shoulder for more comfort, and they are ment to be wear crossed. Overall, not sure how long is wearable, I think it is more convenient for small babies, but it is one nice carrier.

I took the welcomebaby package, this is our first encounter with baby carriers, until now we used a stroller and I thought it was the best thing in the world, until I put her in the carrier and realized that stairs are no longer a problem. I don’t know what I would point out in particular, I like everything, and so does my baby. From her perspective, she is not a boring lying position, but suddenly becomes interested in the environment around her, until she falls asleep safely and peacefully. Thanks to the LNP group and the opportunities they provide.🥰🫶🏼🤱🏻🍀

This was the first carrier we used, and it came with the Welcome baby package. It was, I have to say, our favorite! 🙂 The carrier is comfortable to wear, easy to adjust, and soft for babies. Wearing it and spending time together in it was fun for both of us. It takes only a few seconds to put on a carrier and lay a baby in it, so I felt like it was designed just for me. I would like to thank Lena’s traveling carriers for giving me the chance to try it because the baby loved it. #lenastravelingcarriers

Thanks to LP, we had the opportunity to test the Be Safe baby carrier. Considering that we are new to baby wearing, we easily and comfortably adjusted to it. The baby weighs around 5kg and is about 4 months old, and she accepted the carrier very well. The good thing is that after the initial adjustment when the straps are set, subsequent adjustments are even faster and easier. As a chubbier person, wearing it was quite comfortable for me as well, without any discomfort. I would recommend the Be Safe baby carrier to everyone.
